How to become a disciplined Muslim
even if you've been lazy for years
السلام عليكم friend,
If you've been telling yourself “I'm just a lazy person” for years, I want you to stop.
Not because you suddenly need to become incredibly disciplined overnight.
But because being undisciplined is a pattern. It doesn't have to become your identity.
Here are a few things that can help.
1. Start with ONE thing.
Don't wake up tomorrow and decide you're going to completely transform your life.
Pick one habit.
Make it small.
Then do it consistently.
Discipline is built through repetition, not dramatic fresh starts.
2. Protect your salah.
Your productivity doesn't matter if your obligations to Allah are constantly being pushed aside.
Build your day around your salah, rather than trying to squeeze your salah into whatever time is left.
3. Stop waiting for motivation.
You won't always feel like praying.
You won't always feel like reading Qur'an.
You won't always feel like doing what you said you'd do.
That's where discipline comes in.
You learn to do what matters even when your mood says otherwise.
4. Make the good choice easier.
Want to read Qur'an?
Keep it somewhere visible.
Want to stop scrolling first thing in the morning?
Keep your phone away from your bed.
Want to pray on time?
Set reminders.
Don't make everything depend on willpower. Change your environment to make the right choice easier.
5. Keep your promises to yourself.
If you tell yourself:
“I'll read two pages after Fajr.”
Read the two pages.
Not twenty.
Not zero.
Two.
Every time you follow through, you're teaching yourself:
I do what I say I'm going to do.
And that matters.
6. Don't let one bad day become a bad week.
You missed your habit?
Start again.
You overslept?
Start again.
You spent hours scrolling?
Start again.
Being disciplined doesn't mean you never fall off.
It means you return quickly.
And finally, remember what your time actually is.
Your time isn't just something to fill with tasks.
It's a trust from Allah.
So every now and then, ask yourself:
What am I doing with the hours Allah has given me?
You don't need to become perfect.
You need to become intentional.
That's what we'll be exploring together here each week: how to become more productive, disciplined and intentional as a Muslim, without losing sight of what actually matters.
I understand you came here for healing and if this new direction is not something you are interested in, I will let you go. Feel free to unsubscribe.

With love and dua,
Noorain
