I woke up this morning and realised something.

2 years ago, I was waking up in panic.

Chest tight. Mind racing. Heart pounding like it was trying to escape my body.

I'd check my phone before my feet touched the ground, convinced something was wrong. Something was always "about to go wrong."

My life was a constant spiral of:

  • Panic attacks out of nowhere

  • Anxiety that wouldn't shut off

  • Depression so heavy I couldn't lift my head

  • Prayers that felt empty

  • A disconnect from Allah that terrified me more than the panic

And I was completely alone.

I tried everything. Therapy. Self-help books. Pushing through. Praying harder.

Nothing worked.

Then I discovered something that changed everything.

A framework. 8 steps. And when I integrated them all together everything shifted.

THE 8 STEPS THAT HEALED MY ANXIETY & PANIC ATTACKS (AND GOT ME CLOSER TO ALLAH)

STEP 1: INTENTION

"Actions are judged by intentions."

Here's what changed: I decided I wasn't healing for perfection, for validation, or to prove something to anyone.

I decided to heal for the sake of Allah.

That one decision shifted my entire energy.

When your intention is pure, Allah supports you differently. The whole journey feels different. It stops being about fixing yourself and becomes about returning to Allah.

Your "why" matters more than your methods.

STEP 2: DUA (ASK ALLAH)

I stopped trying to heal myself through willpower alone.

I made dua.

"Ya Allah, I can't do this alone. Ya Shafi (O Healer), only You can heal me."

The moment I admitted I couldn't carry this by myself, I felt held.

I felt Allah's presence in a way I never had before.

Healing begins when you stop carrying it alone and ask the One who actually has power.

STEP 3: SEEK HELP (DUA + ACTION)

But here's what I learned: Dua without action isn't complete.

I didn't just pray and wait.

I actively sought help. Therapists. Coaches. I invested in nervous system work. I showed up for myself even when I didn't believe it would work.

Because Allah helps those who help themselves.

Dua + action = transformation.

Not dua alone. Not action alone. Both.

STEP 4: ISTIGHFAR (SEEKING FORGIVENESS)

I started saying "Astaghfirullah" daily.

Not just for sins, but for:

  • My overthinking

  • My need to control everything

  • My delayed healing

  • The anxiety I was blaming myself for

Every istighfar erases a sin and lightens the burden on your heart.

Istighfar isn't just about forgiveness. It's healing medicine.

STEP 5: SURRENDER (THE HARDEST STEP)

This one almost broke me before it healed me.

I had to stop trying to control every outcome.

Stop preparing for disaster.

Stop white-knuckling my way through life.

Stop trying to prevent the panic by controlling everything.

I surrendered to Allah's plan.

And that's when panic stopped.

Because panic is what happens when you're desperately trying to control the uncontrollable.

The moment I truly let go and the moment I said "Ya Allah, Your plan, not mine".

I felt safe.

Safety comes through surrender.

STEP 6: USE SCIENTIFIC TOOLS

Here's what nobody talks about: Faith heals your soul. But your nervous system needs tools.

I used:

  • Daily breathwork (not just when panic hit)

  • Somatic releases

  • Grounding practices

  • Regulation exercises

  • Trauma integration

I didn't wait until panic attacked to use these tools. I practiced daily.

My nervous system needed training, not just emergency responses.

This is where the real transformation happened where faith and science actually integrated together.

STEP 7: GRATITUDE (THE REWIRING TOOL)

Gratitude rewires your brain to look for blessings instead of danger.

Your brain literally cannot be grateful and anxious at the same time.

It's neurologically impossible.

So I trained my brain to practice gratitude first.

Anxiety lost its grip.

Gratitude is the antidote to anxiety.

STEP 8: EMBRACE FEMININITY (THE FINAL PIECE)

Anxiety thrives in masculine energy: constant hustle, proving yourself, forcing, controlling.

I let go of the grind.

I embraced softness. Rest. Receiving instead of forcing.

I learned that:

  • Rest isn't lazy. It's Sunnah.

  • Softness isn't weakness. It's the most powerful energy.

  • Receiving is more powerful than forcing.

When I stopped living in masculine overdrive and started living from my feminine softness, my nervous system finally relaxed.

You can't heal burnout and anxiety while staying in masculine hustle.
